Josh Hopkins Law
Board Certified, Personal Injury Trial Law — Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Certified since 2000.
Plaintiff personal injury trial lawyer. 33 years of experience. 26 consecutive years Board Certified. Degreed mechanical engineer. Registered Patent Attorney. Every case — personally.
Since 1993
Josh Hopkins has spent 30+ years doing one thing: winning for people who were hurt through someone else’s negligence. Not plaintiffs and defendants. Not case numbers. People — with families, jobs, and futures that were upended in a moment.
He chose plaintiff personal injury law because it is the most consequential legal work available. The outcomes he achieves directly determine whether a family survives financially after a catastrophic injury. That weight informs every decision he makes.
“When you hire Josh Hopkins Law, you get Josh Hopkins — not someone who works for Josh Hopkins.”
The high-volume firms in Texas —with fancy TV ads and billboards
— have built impressive operations with lots of young attorney and non-attorney legal assistants. Josh spent eight years at a large injury firm as a Managing Attorney. He understands that model from the inside. What it offers in scale, it cannot offer in personal attention. At those firms, your case is assigned. At Josh Hopkins Law, your case is Josh’s.
The Engineering Advantage
Before law school, Josh earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and went to work for FMC, an oilfield equipment company. That degree and experience is not a footnote — it is a genuine asset in trucking and product liability litigation.
When experts testify about vehicle dynamics, load distribution, braking systems, or structural failure, Josh engages with the science — not just the testimony. He evaluates defense engineering opinions on their technical merits and identifies where they fall short. As a Registered Patent Attorney with the USPTO, he reads technical drawings and specifications as primary evidence.
Board Certification — What It Actually Means
Only about 2 percent of Texas personal injury lawyers are Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Requirements include substantial trial experience, peer evaluations, and a rigorous written examination. Josh has maintained continuous certification since 2000 — 26 consecutive years. Over the course of his career Josh has represented injured people and Wrongful Death clients in thousands of cases and numerous Jury trials.
Many attorneys advertise personal injury experience. Very few are board certified. Board certification is an independent evaluation of a lawyer’s trial experience and competence in a specialty area.
Founded plaintiff personal injury firm focused on commercial trucking and product liability. Board Certified since 2000. Handles every client file personally.
